Spotlight: South Lake Tahoe Group to Settle FTC Charges
A group representing lodge owners in South Lake Tahoe has agreed to settle Federal Trade Commission charges that it violated antitrust laws when its members stopped posting room prices. Under the accord, members of the South Lake Tahoe Lodging Assn. would be barred from not displaying signs that advertise rates. The group represents 63 members, who operate 70% of the area’s lodging. The FTC alleged that members had agreed not to post prices so they could raise rates without informing the public.
