2 Assembly Candidates Will Speak at Class
Two of the four candidates seeking to fill the 54th District Assembly seat being vacated by Steven T. Kuykendall (R-Rancho Palos Verdes), will speak to a political science class at Los Angeles Harbor College on Thursday.
Democratic candidate Alan Lowenthal and Libertarian Al Carlan will address students and answer questions during the one-hour program, which will be open to the public, college officials said.
The program was organized by summer session student Stephanie Doan.
American Independent candidate Phil Drake has not confirmed whether he will attend the session. Republican Julie Alban will not be there.
All four are vying to replace Kuykendall, who is pursuing the seat in Congress left vacant when Rep. Jane Harman (D-Torrance) ran for governor.
The class will be at 10:30 a.m. in Room 104 of the general classroom building on campus. Information: (310) 522-8480.
