Caver Back Among Surface-Dwellers
A cave explorer trapped for more than a day in a 16-inch-wide tunnel deep inside a cave was freed by the efforts of about 200 rescuers working around the clock. Craig Douglas, 24, of Medford, Mass., suffered only minor scrapes and a slight leg injury. Douglas was exploring Keyhole cave in Schoharie, about 25 miles west of Albany, on Saturday when he got stuck in a small tunnel opening. His friends called for help and rescuers freed him from the narrow crevice Sunday night. He slept several hours in a small chamber before rescuers brought him up 100 feet to the surface.
