Sonoma Routs Vigilantes, Irvine, 11-2
Sonoma County got off to a quick start, scoring two runs in the first inning and four in the second on its way to an 11-2 victory over the Vigilantes in a Western Baseball League game Tuesday night at Saddleback College.
Vigilante starter Kirk Irvine (4-5) gave up nine runs (seven earned) on nine hits in 5 1/3 innings. He struck out one and walked two.
Crusher starter Brian Basteyns (2-1) allowed five hits and two runs in 7 2/3 innings.
Sonoma opened the game with a double by David Mowry. Eric Brown followed with a single, moving Mowry to third. Steve Dietz then flied out to left, allowing Mowry to score. Brown advanced to second on a wild pitch and scored on Eric White’s single.
The Vigilantes’ first run came in the third inning. Robert Muro opened with a double. Then Basteyns walked Tracy Edmondson and Kendrick Davis. Muro when Michael Moore flied out to center field.
