Police Seek Motive in Slaying of Man
A Japanese executive was shot to death as he stepped out of his car in front of his South Los Angeles home, police said Sunday.
Akira Saiki, 37, of Tokyo, was attacked “for no apparent reason” late Friday evening by a lone gunman in the 700 block of West 154th Street, said Officer Eduardo Funes, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Police Department.
Saiki died later at Harbor/UCLA Medical Center. As of late Sunday, police said no one had been taken into custody in connection with the shooting.
It was not immediately known what company Saiki worked for. He had been living in the United States with his wife and two children, a Japanese newspaper reported.
