Memorial Service to Honor Little League Coach
The North Redondo Beach Little League has planned a memorial service today to honor Morley Suzuki, a longtime softball coach who was killed in April by a co-worker at the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Inglewood who shot Suzuki and another worker before turning the gun on himself.
As a living memorial to Suzuki, the city planted a jacaranda tree by the girls’ softball field at Anderson Park, where Suzuki coached for many years. Members of the little league plan to place a memorial plaque on the site in tribute to Suzuki at the 9 a.m. service.
Suzuki, 44, and Clayton Iijima of Torrance were killed by David Rothman on April 23 during a meeting about work schedules.
