Gunmen Rob Jeweler After He Makes Pickup at Store
A Los Angeles jewelry store owner was robbed at gunpoint by four men after picking up jewelry from a store in Costa Mesa, police said.
The jeweler, whose name was not released Wednesday, was robbed of a briefcase filled with about $750,000 worth of rings, necklaces and bracelets, as well as a bag filled with an undisclosed amount of money, Santa Monica Police Lt. Gary Gallinot said. The man had spent the day doing business in Orange County, and police are investigating the possibility that he was followed from Costa Mesa.
The robbers struck in the driveway of the jeweler’s Santa Monica home Tuesday night. He was not injured, police said.
