Man Arrested on Suspicion of Stabbing, Attempted Rape
A man was arrested Friday on suspicion of kidnapping, stabbing and attempting to rape a Simi Valley woman last week, police said.
Robert Allen Salvas, 40, was taken into custody outside his Simi Valley home about 2 p.m. after being turned in by an acquaintance, said Simi Valley Police Lt. Gordon Weeks.
The tipster called police after noticing that Salvas was suffering from a stab wound, Weeks said. The victim, a 32-year-old woman, had told police she thought her attacker had been injured during a struggle.
On Sunday, the victim accepted a ride from a stranger after her car broke down in a residential neighborhood in Simi Valley, police said.
The man took her to a construction site and attacked her, police said, but the woman managed to flee. She was treated at a local hospital for a stab wound to her chest and a collapsed lung.
Weeks said the victim and suspect did not know each other.
