City Facility OKd for Business Park
The Westlake Village City Council has voted unanimously to construct a new City Hall, library and community rooms in the Spectrum Business Park.
The decision was made last week after the council debated whether the city facilities should be placed in a residential or a commercial/industrial setting.
City Hall manager Ray Taylor had said at previous council meetings it was more cost effective to build a City Hall rather than to continue leasing.
The council conducted a public survey in mid-April in which 3,115 cards were mailed to residents asking whether they wanted the City Hall built separately on Foxfield Drive or both the library and City Hall built in the business park.
Out of 1,030 cards returned, 87% favored both the City Hall and library grouped in the business park on Lots 9 and 10.
Later this month the council is expected to finish a report detailing what other steps are needed.
