From Dana Point to Catalina, by Boat
Catalina Express, a longtime operator of boats to Catalina Island from San Pedro and Long Beach, has begun service from Dana Point in Orange County--the only carrier to offer regular scheduled service from Dana Point, a spokeswoman said.
Boats leave Dana Point at 9:15 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 9:15 a.m. and 4:45 p.m. on Friday; and 7:15 a.m., 11:45 a.m. and 4:45 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The trip takes one hour, 45 minutes; adult one-way fare is $18, the same as from the two other ports. In winter months, starting in November, the service is expected to be weekends only. Reservations: (800) 429-4601.
