Latino Group Installs Its New President
Members of the Latino advocacy group El Concilio del Condado de Ventura have installed Clara Ramos as their new president.
Ramos of El Rio has been active in Oxnard for 24 years, working for the Oxnard School District as its community outreach liaison. She is also involved with Mexican American Educators, South Oxnard Challenge Committee, Rio del Valle and Rio Real School Site Council.
Ramos, who was installed last week, is a recipient of the Odie Deans Wells Humanitarian Award from the Oxnard School District.
El Concilio also installed four new board members at the group’s 23rd annual officers’ installation ceremony. The new members are Mike Silacci of Newbury Park, Oxnard City Manager Edmund Sotelo, Steve Arvizu of Oxnard and Gabriela Reeves of Santa Paula.
El Concilio is a private nonprofit Latino advocacy organization that provides a number of services to Ventura County residents, including youth violence prevention, citizenship processing and AIDS prevention.
