Victim of Shooting Found at Harbor
A 51-year-old man, soaking wet and covered with sand, was found with a gunshot wound to his chest outside a restaurant at Ventura Harbor, police said Tuesday.
Paul Wayne Short of Ventura was discovered just after 10:30 p.m. Monday outside the Seafood Broiler, said Ventura Police Sgt. Bob Anderson.
Short was taken to Ventura County Medical Center, where he was released Tuesday, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Investigators found evidence that Short had been in the harbor or the ocean, and then had staggered along the waterfront before collapsing outside the restaurant, Anderson said.
But there were no witnesses to the shooting, and detectives have not yet interviewed Short and do not know why or how he was shot, Anderson said.
