Pop Notes
SUBLIME HONOR: Sublime may be finished, but the band’s memory will live on in concrete at the Hard Rock Cafe in Newport Beach, which is honoring the Long Beach trio with a star in the walk of fame outside the Fashion Island restaurant. Sublime joins No Doubt, Van Halen and Chris Isaak as honorees. Memorabilia from Brad Nowell, the singer whose death ended the band, will be donated to the Hard Rock Cafe’s collection, including handwritten lyrics to the song “Caress Me Down” and Nowell’s favorite Hawaiian shirt.
The star unveiling will take place March 14 at 9 p.m. At 10, the Hard Rock Cafe will host a concert by the Long Beach Dub All Stars, featuring the two surviving Sublime members, bassist Eric Wilson and drummer Bud Gaugh. Tickets: $5. Information: (714) 640-8844.
