GIRLS’ BASKETBALL DIVISION IV-A
Brethren Christian (18-10) vs. No. 2 Cerritos Valley Christian(23-6)
11:15 A.M. TODAY THE PYRAMID, LONG BEACH
Valley Christian shared first and Brethren Christian was third in the Olympic League. The Crusaders haven’t lost to Brethren in more than five years, including 54-43 and 41-36 victories this season. Brethren’s best chance to win the IV-A title is to stop Sarah Middlebrook and not commit 32 turnovers, as it did in its 11-point loss. The Warriors have beaten No. 4 Burbank Bellarmine-Jefferson and top-seeded Santa Monica Crossroads, in which Cindy Oparah (19.9 points) scored a career-high 37. A repeat performance by Oparah or 6-3 Rachael MacDonald (17.6 points) could help complete a clean sweep.
