2 Men Stabbed to Death, 8 Hurt in Brawl After Wedding
Two men were fatally stabbed and eight injured after a wedding ceremony turned into a melee, deputies said Monday.
The fight began around 11:40 p.m. Saturday after the ceremony concluded at Portuguese Hall on Ashworth Street, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Steve Sciacca.
Ruben Baltazar, 24, of Lakewood, and a group of supporters attacked Salvador Buriel, 26, of South Gate, and some of his friends in the hall parking lot, Sciacca said.
During the fight, Baltazar and Buriel were seriously injured and later died at area hospitals. Eight other stabbing victims were taken to hospitals, where they were listed in serious condition.
Authorities had not determined the reason for the attack.
