Racial Injustice
Re “ ‘Nothing’s Changed’ on Race? Look Again,” by William Raspberry, Commentary, March 3:
Since 1865 African Americans have fought, started the civil rights movement in this country, prayed, demanded and even rioted for our human dignity and to obtain our civil rights. What has been accomplished in this country regarding race issues is the direct result of African Americans’ indomitable will, fortitude and perseverance. We have not had our inalienable rights without continuous conflict and struggle.
This article exemplified the kind of rhetoric that coins the phrase “nothing’s changed,” and as long as there are people with Raspberry’s mind-set, as far as I’m concerned, that phrase continues to be correct.
