Deadline Nears to Transfer Students to New Schools
Parents seeking to transfer students within the Garden Grove Unified School District under its open enrollment policy must submit requests by April 30.
Requests should be filed with the Child Welfare and Attendance Office in the Education Center, 10331 Stanford Ave.
Brochures in English, Spanish, Korean and Vietnamese on the program and options for school attendance are available in school offices and in the Education Center.
State law allows parents to select any school in the district for attendance as long as space is available. Transfers may not displace neighborhood children or affect the racial and ethnic balance of a school.
Because of enrollment growth and class size reduction, only 19 of the district’s 44 elementary schools have space for transfers, spokesman Alan Trudell said. All high schools and intermediate schools have openings.
District transportation isn’t provided to students attending schools on transfers. Information: (714) 663-6391.
