Burst Oil Pipe Leaks 120 Gallons Into Creek
An oil pipe near West Imperial Highway sprung a leak Monday morning, sending 120 gallons of crude oil into Brea Canyon Creek, Fire Department sources said.
A cleanup crew spent the day at Arovista Park, the center of the spill, said Capt. Greg Edmonson of the Brea Fire Department. The pipe is owned by Nuevo Energy Co.
An environmental impact study will be needed to analyze the damage of the spill, but Edmonson said he believes the incident was minor.
“There was a light sheen on the water, but it was hard to detect,” he said.
