Potts Doesn’t Budge on Family Matters
Glenda Potts, Highland High’s softball coach, was missing Saturday when the Bulldogs defeated perennial powers Quartz Hill, 3-1, and Hart, 1-0, to win the Hart tournament.
Potts was in Vancouver, Wash., serving as maid of honor at the wedding of her sister, Erika.
“There are priorities in life,” Potts said. “Family comes before softball.”

Saying goodbye: Bill Sizemore, Thousand Oaks’ coach, missed his team’s game against Oak Park on Monday because of the death of his father in Ridgecrest. Assistant Scott Veres ran the team.
Arm and hammer: Two former standouts from the region are making major contributions as freshmen for the University of San Francisco. Pitcher Chris Thogersen (Newbury Park) has a 4-1 record. Catcher Josh Goldfield (Calabasas) is batting .449.
