Woman Killed, Man Critically Hurt in Crash
RESEDA — An early-morning accident involving a small car and a van left one woman dead and a man in critical condition on Thursday, authorities said.
The accident occurred in the 18600 block of West Saticoy Street at 6:34 a.m., when a 1998 Geo Metro hit a late-model Dodge van, said Jim Wells, spokesman for the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The driver of the car died at Northridge Hospital Medical Center after she and a male passenger were extracted from the vehicle, said Det. Ralph Kemptner of the Los Angeles Police Department. Her name was not released pending notification of relatives.
The driver of the van was not hurt.
The car was traveling westbound on Saticoy Street, weaving in and out of the eastbound lane when it hit the van, sending both vehicles into the curb, Kemptner said.
