New Leader Sought in Fight Against Freeway
The city’s transportation manager has resigned and South Pasadena has launched a search for a new manager to coordinate its battle against the proposed Long Beach Freeway extension, City Manager Sean Joyce said.
Transportation Manager Katherine Perez notified city officials that she will be leaving to spend more time with her family, but has agreed to continue in the position on a contract basis until a successor is hired, Joyce said.
For more than a year, Perez, a transportation planner, has led South Pasadena’s efforts to stop the extension from slicing the community in half. Federal officials are the closest they have ever been to approving the project.
