Travolta Films Tail ‘Titanic’
“Titanic” topped the weekly box-office chart for the 15th consecutive week with $15.2 million in ticket sales.
Two films featuring John Travolta achieved the next highest box-office figures over the weekend: the reprise of his 1978 musical “Grease,” which grossed $12.7 million, and the politically themed “Primary Colors,” which took in $7 million, a 42% drop from its debut the week before.
The weekend’s highest-ranking new film was “The Newton Boys” from 20th Century Fox, which came in ninth with a lackluster $4 million in box office. Dimension Films’ “Ride” grossed an impressive $2.6 million on only 496 screens; Disney’s “Meet the Deedles” took in $2 million on 1,763 screens.
