Jury Selection Begins in Fairgrounds Case
Jury selection begins this week in a civil trial that should determine the contested ownership of a shuttered concert venue at the Orange County Fairgrounds.
Fair officials want to negate a 1993 sale agreement with Los Angeles-based Nederlander Organization to buy the Pacific Amphitheater for $12.5 million.
Sound restrictions that protect nearby homes make concerts at the site impractical, fair officials contend.
Nederlander claims the sale was appropriate because fair officials were aware of the noise restrictions.
Proceedings began Monday in Orange County Superior Court. Opening statements are planned early next week, said Jill Lloyd, a spokeswoman for the fairgrounds.
