Hearing to Address 2,100-Home Proposal
City planners will hold a public hearing tonight to discuss a plan to put 2,100 homes on 5,000 acres of undeveloped land in the Chino Hills above Yorba Linda.
Shell Oil Co., which owns the former oil-producing land adjacent to Carbon Canyon Regional Park, has been negotiating with city officials for seven years on the proposal. Residents became aware of the plans in January when bulldozers began clearing the hills.
Many residents have contacted public officials in opposition to the plan, citing concerns about added traffic and the density of the development.
The plan also includes a school, two parks and a golf course.
The Planning Commission will meet at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall, 4845 Casa Loma Ave.
Information: (714) 961-7100.
