Fiesta Broadway Telecast Is May 5
Sunday’s Fiesta Broadway, which drew more than 200,000 revelers into the streets of downtown Los Angeles, was billed as the nation’s largest Cinco de Mayo celebration.
But it was also the nation’s earliest, since it wasn’t even held in the same month as the event it was commemorating.
That’s one reason the Telemundo network, one of the Fiesta’s sponsors, is holding its taped broadcast of the event until May 5 (Cinco de Mayo), when it will present a two-hour prime-time special. The show will air locally on KVEA-TV Channel 52 at 8 p.m.
Telemundo personality Raquelin Gonzalez will host the show, which will include performances by two-time Grammy winners La Mafia, Los Illegales, Nydia Rojas and Chayanne, the event’s grand marshal.
