Joe V. Brink, 68; Ex-Exxon Foreman

Joe V. Brink of Santa Paula, a former construction worker and oil company foreman, died Wednesday. He was 68.

Brink was born Jan. 22, 1930, in Parkville, Mo. He moved to Ventura County from Long Beach in 1950.

He worked for Max Rudolph Construction until 1972. He then worked for Exxon Oil Co. as a maintenance foreman until his retirement in 1985. Later that year, Brink opened MB Lawn Service in Santa Paula, a business he operated for 10 years.

Brink, known by his family as “Papa Joe,” served in the Marines. He was also a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Santa Paula.

Brink is survived by his wife, Marleen Brink; two sons, George Brink and Kenny Brink, both of Santa Paula; two daughters, Sue McMahan of Quartz Hill and Kelly Casas of Santa Paula; a sister, Beth Ball of Camden Point, Mo.; a brother, Ross Brink of Perry, Kan.; nine grandchildren; two great-grandsons, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today at the Pierce Brothers Stetler Chapel in Santa Paula. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Santa Paula Cemetery. Pastor Bob Walpole will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks people to make contributions to their favorite charity.
