* Irvine at Santa Margarita, 3 today: This has become one of the Sea View League’s best baseball rivalries; the Vaqueros play the front-running Eagles as tough as anyone. Third baseman Randall Shelley (.540, 6 home runs, 23 RBI) is one of three Santa Margarita players with 20 or more RBIs. Irvine’s Jordan Blen (.437) is among the county’s leading contact hitters.
* Dana Hills at Mater Dei, 3 today: The Dolphins, tied with Trabuco Hills for second in the South Coast League, absorbed a 10-0 drubbing on their last visit to Mater Dei. Right-hander Jesse Gallup (5-0, 1.89, 44 strikeouts) is having an excellent season for Dana Hills. The Monarchs’ potent lineup features Brett Kay (6 home runs, 17 RBI), Pat Manning (.452, 4 home runs, 19 RBI) and Jon Kinney (5 home runs, 24 RBI).
* Tustin vs. Ocean View, Windrow Park, 7 p.m. Saturday: A prime time rematch of Golden West teams for those who missed Wednesday’s pitching duel between the Tillers’ Chad Chop and the Seahawks’ Pete Montrenes. Ocean View won, 4-2. Jason Martini (6 home runs, 22 RBI) is Ocean View’s top power threat. Richard Lane has driven in 23 runs for Tustin.
