Mission Viejo’s Bachelor Signs With Santa Clara
Eric Bachelor, the No. 1 singles player at Mission Viejo, has signed with Santa Clara, his father, Bob, said.
Bachelor has been the team’s most valuable player the last three years. Last weekend at Ojai, Bachelor, 15-1 in singles play for the Diablos, advanced to the quarterfinals in doubles.

Tustin High pitcher Chad Chop said this week he has signed a letter of intent with San Diego State.
Chop, the 1997 Golden West League pitcher of the year, is 5-1 with a 1.35 earned-run average this season for the Tillers.

Estancia’s Ryan Simpson has accepted an appointment to the U.S. Air Force Academy, Eagle boys’ basketball Coach Rich Boyce said.
The forward averaged 12 points and 9.5 rebounds last season for the Estancia, which advanced to the Southern Section III-A semifinals.

Los Alamitos’ Amy Valois has signed to play water polo for Pacific, according to her father, Rick. Valois was named to the All-Sunset League first team and was a second-team All-Southern Section selection.

Erin Connors, a third baseman at Rosary, has made an oral commitment to play softball at Brown, according to Rosary Coach Tom Tice.
Connors, a first-team All-Golden West League and second-team section Division IV player last season, is batting .377 with 17 runs batted in in 20 games. She batted .416 last year with 19 RBIs.

Santa Margarita water polo player Tyler Wilson has committed to Dartmouth, Eagle Coach Rick Rowland said.
Wilson was on the All-Sea View League’s second team and also was on the 200 freestyle relay team that won last season’s Southern Section Division I title.
Another member of those relay and water polo teams, Andrew Jensen, has committed to Loyola Marymount. Jensen was a first-team all-league selection and was named to the All-Southern Section water polo team as a senior.
Chris Ansevin, a two-meter man on the Eagles team, has signed to play at George Washington. Ansevin twice was named to the all-league first team and played on the national 17-and-under junior Olympic team.

Iowa State has granted freshman Allison Arvizu, a Huntington Beach High graduate, a transfer to Long Beach State, which has given her a four-year scholarship to play tennis. She was a medical redshirt at Iowa State.
