Men’s tennis: SCC’s Stefan Johansson made a run at the Ojai tournament last weekend, reaching the finals of the Independent Colleges division before falling to Azusa Pacific’s Jussi Ala Opas, 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (12-10).
“I have never seen Stefan play such great tennis as he did during this tournament,” SCC Coach Mattias Johansson said. “Stefan may end up playing Ala Opas in the GSAC tournament [this weekend] in a possible quarterfinal, which will be interesting. A win there and we probably win the tournament.”
SCC’s Joakim Ulfuebrand reached the semifinals before losing to Ala Opas, the ninth-ranked singles player in the NAIA, 7-5, 6-4.
