COLLEGE NOTES
Orange Coast College hosts the 33rd Newport Invitational Rowing Regatta Sunday at the college’s boathouse and surrounding banks of North Lido Channel.
The Pirate men’s crew will be seeking its 13th consecutive P.A. Palmer Cup, which is awarded the college with the most points during the morning’s six races.
Crews from UC Irvine, UCLA, Santa Clara, San Diego State, Chapman, Loyola Marymount, Long Beach State, UC Santa Barbara, UC San Diego, UC Davis and San Diego are expected to compete.
The day begins with the Pirate women’s crew facing the Varsity 8 crew from UC Irvine in the annual Collins Cup competition.
