13 New Schools
L.A. schools Supt. Ruben Zacarias is expected to announce Monday that 13 schools will be built in the Valley under the district’s $1.8-billion construction plan. Two high schools, two middle schools, three elementary schools and six primary schools--for pupils in preschool through first grade--are planned in a move to end busing and ease overcrowding. Details will be discussed at 11 a.m. at district headquarters, 450 N. Grand Ave.
