Re “Councilman Urges Rescue of Historic Ship Catalina,” May 6: Councilman Rudy Svorinich Jr.’s motion is to be applauded and supported. Hopefully, it will be supported not only by the City Council, the populace of Los Angeles and Catalina but by all of us who remember the romantic and exciting journey to Catalina on the big steamer.
Bringing the ship back to San Pedro is a wonderful idea and will certainly be an added attraction for the thousands of tourists who travel to Avalon in the speedy but boring ferries.
