Pilot in Copter Crash Near Dam Is Identified
The Los Angeles county coroner’s office has identified the pilot who was killed when a helicopter crashed earlier this month at the Santa Fe Dam in Irwindale.
Tina Marian Junker, 28, of Pomona, was killed May 1 when the tiny Robinson R22 chopper struck two power lines near the intersection of the San Gabriel River and Foothill freeways.
Flying student Naoki Miyajima, 24, suffered minor injuries in the crash in the southeast corner of the dam area. The power lines burned much of the copter cabin to a cinder, officials said. The accident is under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board.
