A New Section, A New Look
To Our Readers:
Southern California Living, The Times’ new lifestyle, debuts today. The section replaces Life & Style and will appear Sunday through Friday.
The Kids’ Reading Room--part of The Times’ Reading by 9 literacy project--also makes it first appearance today. The centerpiece of the page will be a serialized story of children that will start on Sundays and run through the week.
The new lifestyle section will feature stories and photography that represent the best of Southern California. The heart of the section will be profiles that document the daily lives of ordinary people leading extraordinary lives.
The coverage includes a profile of a Southern California family every Sunday. The section will also cover issues of particular interest to women, philanthropy and volunteerism, values and working as part of our busy lifestyle.
On Thursday, Southern California Living will bring a new home section that will feature interior design, remodeling and gardening. On Friday, the section will focus on fashion, beauty and Southern California style.
Also coming to Southern California Living will be the daily crossword puzzle and the bridge column. These two features move from Classified into a new subsection called Section Gee! In one convenient place, you will find many of our popular features, including the comics, the horoscope, Dear Abby, Ann Landers, Laugh Lines and Off-Kilter.
Today, we are also introducing a new look for our feature sections. The redesign incorporates fresh, contemporary typefaces and body type that will enhance the readability of these sections.
Please let us know how you enjoy our new section and new look.
