Troops Recapture City From Rebels

Rebels yielded the Amazon basin city of Mitu to government forces after authorities sent hundreds of troops to the remote area in the southeast to end a three-day guerrilla onslaught that left more than 160 people dead. The seizure of the city of 15,000 people underscored the rebels’ military strength and fueled doubts about the government’s nascent peace plans.
