El Camino Real 29, Chatsworth 26--Quarterback Jonathan Graham and receiver Kevin Eggum connected on a 78-yard touchdown pass play with 5:31 left in the game to lift the Conquistadores to victory at El Camino Real.
Eggum caught a short pass at the El Camino Real 36-yard line, broke a tackle and streaked down the right sideline for the winning score. Running back DeAngelo Nedd led El Camino Real (5-4-1, 4-3) with 172 yards rushing in 23 carries, including a 58-yard touchdown run on the game’s opening series.
Chatsworth (5-5, 2-5) took a 26-21 lead on the second play of the fourth quarter, when quarterback Matt Cassel scrambled and completed a seven-yard touchdown pass to Mark Harris. Cassel completed 13 of 19 passes for 136 yards and two touchdowns.
Cassel threw a 55-yard touchdown pass to running back Eric Harris in the first quarter to cut El Camino Real’s lead to 7-6. Cassel’s three-yard touchdown run gave Chatsworth its first lead, 18-14, in the second quarter.
Graham completed only four passes, but three went for touchdowns. Graham threw a six-yard scoring pass to tight end Blake Kezirian early in the second quarter to give the Conquistadores a 14-6 lead.
Graham connected with Kenton Morse for a 16-yard scoring pass with 13 seconds to play in the first half to give El Camino Real a 21-18 lead.
Graham’s 32-yard scramble with 2:16 to play clinched the victory.
