Monuments

* Re George V. Kent’s Nov. 13 letter (“German Monument”) in which he pointedly asks, “Why single out Berlin?”: Nothing would please me more than to see the people of the world’s various capital cities erect just such a series of monuments as those suggested by Kent. While it has become vogue to pity Native Americans, we continue to use $20 bills with President Andrew Jackson’s face on them; and though President Clinton and his ilk mouth words about “never again,” few lift a finger while atrocities do occur again and again. A series of monuments would at least acknowledge our iniquities.
