Selanne to Get Needled
Teemu Selanne sat out his fourth game in a row because of a strained right thigh, a disappointing enough development. But his scheduled acupuncture treatment also was canceled Wednesday.
Taking a tip from his buddy, Paul Kariya, Selanne said he hoped acupuncture would aid his recovery. Kariya credits acupuncture treatments with speeding his recovery from post-concussion syndrome last spring.
Selanne rescheduled for today. He also hopes to skate for the first time since he was injured midway through the third period of the Ducks’ 5-4 overtime victory Nov. 11 against the Carolina Hurricanes.
He hasn’t ruled out playing Friday against the Edmonton Oilers.
“We’re hoping for a little boost,” Selanne said of the decision to try acupuncture. “It’s supposed to get the blood moving or something. I don’t really know, but Paul loves it.”
