The one-time House of Pain frontman emerges on his debut solo album as a talented, multi-genre musician. Singing with a scratchy voice, he plays a respectable acoustic guitar as he relays tales of lower-class struggle on the album’s rock-oriented selections. Still, Everlast’s strength lies in his angst-filled raps, which are backed by aggressive, spine-tingling beats.
