Man Slain by Deputies After Ramming Car
BELLFLOWER — A man who allegedly attacked sheriff’s deputies by ramming his vehicle against their patrol car was shot to death Tuesday, a sheriff’s spokesman said.
Deputy Cruz Solis said deputies were following a man who had stolen a Signal Hill city police vehicle. He drove it to the driveway of a Bellflower home in the 8500 block of Park Street about 3 a.m.
“When he was ordered to stop and step out of the car, the suspect put the car in reverse and started ramming it forward and backward into the patrol cars,” Solis said. “That’s when deputies opened fire, striking him.”
Solis said the man, whose name was not released, died at the scene.
