True Heroism
The Times editorial, “An Ideal Personified,” (Nov. 22) was right on with how security guard Conrad Buchanan displayed the rare quality of true heroism.
Although his serious injuries are certainly a tragedy for him and his loved ones, there may be an even larger, but very simple, lesson for all of us that comes out of his heroism.
Very often, it is easy to become cynical about the direction of modern culture when news is dominated by never-ending examples of violence, self-serving actions and a general lack of ethics and integrity. Buchanan’s actions are a reminder to us all of the essence of being human.
May we not forget him in our prayers until he fully recovers from his injuries.
