Choosing Sides In Spitzer-Silva Fight
* I found it curiously ironic that Supervisor Jim Silva could accuse fellow Supervisor Todd Spitzer of being a liar and leaker of closed-session information (Nov. 18).
Such vitriol and bombast from someone bought and paid for by the pro-El Toro airport [forces] rings hollow at best, especially when pawns like county Chief Executive Officer Jan Mittermeier are allowed to conduct public business in the smoky malignancy of the “back room.”
Spitzer is paying the price now, just as he did years ago when he was attacked for not allowing fellow school board members to sweep the Brea Olinda grade-altering scandal under the carpet.
Indeed, if there is one supervisor whose integrity is unassailable and truly believes that “sunlight is the most powerful of all disinfectants,” it is Spitzer, not Silva.

* I am glad that someone finally took on Supervisor Todd Spitzer. For the past two years he has run roughshod over the staff and public alike.
As is the case with any school-yard bully, sooner or later he was bound to get his comeuppance. It was only fitting that a former schoolteacher, Supervisor Jim Silva, stepped in and did the job.
It is my hope from here on out that the brash young supervisor will mature and learn to work with and to respect the county staff, his colleagues and the general public. If he does he will be amazed at how far he will go.
