Naval Base
I am appalled at the decision of the city officials of Long Beach to elect to destroy the naval base, for a container yard no less (Nov. 25)!
I lived in Long Beach from 1960 to the mid-1980s; I lived there as a young child and an adult. It broke my heart when the “all-wise” city officials destroyed the Plunge, Rainbow Pier, the Pike (with its beautiful hand-carved 100-year-old carousel), didn’t rebuild the library and just about ruined everything historic and beautiful in Long Beach.
Here sits another historic site, once again to be left only in our memories.
