Chapman Women Rally for Overtime Soccer Victory

Sara Struhs scored on an assist from Tiffany Willis with 30 seconds left in the first overtime to lead Chapman to a 4-3 women’s soccer victory over Findlay (Ohio) Wednesday at Chapman.

The Panthers (6-6-2) rallied from a 3-1 second-half deficit on goals by Kristie Hoback and Stacie Lopez to force overtime.

Chapman led at halftime, 1-0, but Findlay (7-7) got three consecutive second-half goals from Carri Campbell. Hoback finished with two goals and an assist for Chapman.

In Golden State Athletic Conference men’s soccer:

Southern California College 1, Biola 0--Diego Goni scored the winning goal on an assist from Joseph Neri to lead SCC. Biola (10-5, 4-1) was ranked 17th in the NAIA. Matt Resor had nine saves for the Eagles (7-8, 2-3).

Westmont 6, Concordia 0--Todd Marcus and Hayden Zaccagni each scored two goals to lead visiting Westmont (10-0-1, 5-0), ranked No. 2 in NAIA.

Concordia is 1-13-1, 0-5.

In nonconference men’s soccer:

Chapman 2, Findlay (Ohio) 0--Colin McLean scored 17 seconds into the match on an assist from Nick Tolman. Ozzie Martinez scored the second goal off Mike Sterner’s assist late in the second half for Chapman (8-4-1). Findlay is 10-2-1.

In nonconference women’s volleyball:

Chapman 3, Occidental 0--Erika Chaney had 15 kills and Erin Dedic added 10 to help Chapman to a 15-13, 15-9, 15-7 victory.
