Early Primaries
* Dan Schnur’s Oct. 8 commentary regarding the change in the date for the California primaries is the height of absurdity. To suggest that presidential candidates need more time to become known and express their views and agendas is ridiculous--we are saturated with them for months, long before the primaries are held, regardless of when that is.
What we need is less time between primaries, nominations and elections, so we can get the whole process over with in a timely fashion. The British seem to do quite well with a six-week span. Of course, that would cut down on the advertising revenues for all the newspapers, magazines and television and radio stations.
