3 Robbers Sought in Pawnbroker’s Death
Police are looking for three robbers who beat and shot a Westlake pawnbroker to death in his West 6th Street shop, police said Wednesday.
Los Angeles police spokesman Jason Lee said Tuesday’s death of the owner of D & D Jewelry and Loan at 3101 W. 6th St. remained under investigation.
A customer told officers that at 1:30 p.m. three men--two of them armed with guns--invaded the store. They ordered the customer to the floor while they took the owner into the back of the shop, where they viciously beat him before shooting him to death, Lee said.
The customer was uninjured but the owner died 90 minutes later at County-USC Medical Center.
“The suspects fled with an unknown amount of cash,” Lee said.
No description of the suspects was available, the spokesman said. The owner was a Russian immigrant whose name was withheld pending notification of relatives.
