City to Hold Town Meeting on Airport Expansion Plans
Prompted by complaints about aircraft noise in neighborhoods north and east of Los Angeles International Airport, City Councilwoman Ruth Galanter is sponsoring a town hall meeting today for residents to speak to airport and federal aviation officials.
A representative from the noise management office for Los Angeles World Airports and regional Federal Aviation Administration official Bill Withycombe will attend, said Galanter spokeswoman Niki Tennant.
Galanter has been an outspoken critic of plans to expand the passenger and cargo capacity of LAX, citing the potential for increased street traffic and noise.
The meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. at St. Bernard High School, 1900 Falmouth Ave., Playa del Rey.
