Santa Ana 1, Irvine Valley 0--Grace Ramirez scored the winning goal to lead visiting Santa Ana (5-11-3, 2-6-1). Santa Ana was without Carrie Steinmeyer, the team’s leading scorer with nine goals this season, who suffered a knee injury.
In Orange Empire Conference men’s soccer:
Cypress 1, Orange Coast 1--Jesse Cortes’ goal in the 65th minute tied the score for Orange Coast (3-6-1, 9-10-3). George Bawuah scored for Cypress (0-8-1, 3-12-1) in the 53rd minute.
Cypress’ Robert Ornelas made eight saves, one on a point-blank shot by Ramon Garcia in the 86th minute.
Fullerton 1, Riverside 0--Ryan Graham scored the winner in the 65th minute off an assist from Derek Gildner. Fullerton is 11-4-4, 7-2-1; Riverside is 5-11-1, 2-7.
Santa Ana 2, Irvine Valley 0--Victor Licea scored in the 29th minute and Andres Arroyo added a goal during injury time to lead Santa Ana (15-1-3, 7-0-2). Sergio Viera made three saves for the shutout. Irvine Valley is 16-3-1, 7-2-1.
In Orange Empire Conference women’s volleyball:
Saddleback 3, Irvine Valley 1--Kelly Web had 17 kills and Richelle Danet added 40 assists for Saddleback, which won, 15-4, 15-7, 2-15, 15-7. Saddleback (14-3, 7-1) won eight consecutive points in the fourth game.
