In other nonconference openers:
San Fernando 38, Jefferson 12--Lineman Steve Nevarez recovered a fumble on Jefferson’s opening drive, setting up a 22-yard touchdown run by quarterback Larry Brown and the Tigers won at Jefferson.
Brown connected with Gerardo Rubi on a 49-yard touchdown pass play to give San Fernando a 14-6 lead early in the second quarter.
Brown completed three of six passes for 92 yards.
Major Caldwell ran 72 yards for a touchdown midway through the second quarter to give San Fernando a 21-12 lead. Caldwell rushed for 162 yards in 18 carries.
Jason Edmond took the second-half kickoff 84 yards for a touchdown and the Tigers had a 28-12 lead.
San Fernando held the Democrats to 32 yards in the second half.
