Mets Pull Nomo From Rotation

The New York Mets have pulled Hideo Nomo out of their starting rotation and moved Masato Yoshii’s next start back to Monday.

In his last outing on Tuesday at Philadelphia, Nomo gave up seven runs in 2 2/3 innings of a 16-4 loss.

The Mets also activated Todd Hundley from the 15-day disabled list.

Former Atlanta Brave reliever Larry Bradford died after suffering a heart attack Friday night at Turner Field.

Bradford pitched for the Braves in 1977 and then from 1979 through 1981. The Baseball Encyclopedia and Braves biography records give conflicting ages for Bradford, one listing him at 48, another at 51.

The Chicago Cubs acquired left-hander Chris Haney, 29, from the Kansas City Royals for cash considerations.

X-rays on the right hand of Roger Clemens were negative, and the Toronto Blue Jays said he will make his next scheduled start on Wednesday. Clemens was hurt Friday night when he was hit by batted balls twice.

The Boston Red Sox activated second baseman Lou Merloni from the 60-day disabled list.
